Ethel O. Washington Memorial Scholarship Application
In July, 2004, the Michigan Association of Family and Consumer Sciences first awarded the Ethel O. Washington Memorial Scholarship. Dr. Washington, who died in March of 2002, was a tireless advocate for Family and Consumer Science education. This $1,000 scholarship is given to a student at a two-year or four-year college or university in the State of Michigan, with a major in Human Ecology/ Home Economics/Family and Consumer Sciences or related program (Child Development, Interior Design Nutrition, Human Services, etc.) or to a high school senior who has been accepted into a related program for the school year of 2012-2013. The criteria are: high academic ability, evidence of leadership, and career goals in any area of Human Ecology/Home Economics/Family Consumer Sciences.
